Ten Years and Counting

A couple months ago I received my ten year pin from the American Massage Therapy Association.  At first I put the pin to the side with all my other ’stuff’ that accumulates in the mail and didn’t think much of it.  As the months pass and I watch businesses around us come and go I realize that ‘hey, maybe this is a big deal!’  Fewer businesses small and large can say they’ve been around for ten years.  There’s something to be said about the loyalty of my clients, the integrity of the business, the fact that I love doing my job and helping people heal.  Although Hands of Healing has more competition with franchises popping up everywhere and more education institutes providing Massage Therapy as a career choice, I/we don’t feel threatened.  Franchises have the capital for marketing and they tend to focus on price and hours of opperation.  The independent businesses, Hands of Healing, has different goals in mind than the big multinational chains.

What does being AMTA certified mean?
In order to be a member the Therapist must first have 500 hours of Massage Therapy training preferably from an accredited school.  Once a member, the therapist must obide by continuing education, code of ethics, and scope of practice guidelines annually.  For more information, feel free to visit:  www.amtamassage.org
Thank you for letting me share this honor of celebrating 10 years in the massage therapy business.  I’m looking forward to serving you for 10 more!
